Dublin Travel Guide
Our absolute favorite trip to date is our Scotland road trip, and we can’t wait to head back to do a little bit more of the isles hopefully one day soon! We were beyond excited to be able to head to Ireland because of that.
Nearing the last year of our time living in Italy (this time around…a girl can dream right?), we are of the mindset that we’d rather dip our toes in than not feel the water at all! Weird analogy..but what I’m trying to say is that ideally going to Ireland would be at least a week long adventure, but because we’re on the back end of our time here we’d rather have gone and done just a little than not gone at all! So for Veteran’s Day weekend we finally made it to Dublin, Ireland. Honestly 2.5 days (Thursday late at night until Sunday late afternoon) was a perfect amount of time to do everything we wanted to do in Dublin. If we’d had one more full day we would have made the drive out to the Cliffs of Moher or the Blarney Castle. So if you’re able to, I’d tack on at least another day or two in order to see both the cities and the countryside of Ireland. I think we might make it two long weekends and head back for another 3 or 4 day trip to see the countryside.
But, you came to this blog for Dublin, so let’s get to it shall we! In this blog, I thought it’d be easiest to simply list off the things we did, where we ate, and a few other places I had saved on google maps that we didn't make it to you might want to check out yourself! If you’re reading my travel guides for the first time, for some trips like our Scotland, Norway, or French Riviera trip we have a much more scheduled itinerary, so I like to show you day by day. But for places like Dublin or Florence and Tuscany, it’s easier to show you everywhere you could visit and just cross them off as you walk and wander the city.
First off, the Ryanair flight from Venice Treviso straight into Dublin is the easiest ever and a must if you’re headed there from the Venice, Italy area.
What to do
Guinness - do a self-guided tour and make sure you buy the ticket that ends with a glass of whichever Guinness drink you choose int he gravity bar at the top of the storehouse. I chose the “Black Velvet",” champagne mixed with Guinness for any other non-beer drinkers out there.
Jameson - have a drink in their gorgeous bar
Roe and Co - take a blending class at this trendy distillery. And for the cocktail included at the end of the tour, you have to try the salty.
Dublinia - if you love museums, it’s a yes, if you don’t, it’s a maybe. All about the viking heritage and medieval history of the city.
Christ Church - gorgeous on the outside as well
Shopping - there is so much good shopping in this city!
Christ’s Church
Saint Patrick’s Cathedral
Blending class for the perfect old fashion with Roe and Co.
Dublin Castle
The gardens of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral
Where to eat
Joy of Cha - my friend found this adorable cafe when our original restaurant idea was too full. We ended up loving it and staying for a couple hours. You have to try the spinach feta roll-up.
The Ivy - an absolute must for brunch. The food and the atmosphere can’t be beat.
Church Cafe - an old church that’s been turned into a restaurant. Such a fun atmosphere, maybe more of a place to just go for a drink, unless you’re into bar food!
Urbanity - the perfect lunch place. You have to try the duck sandwich.
Queen of Tarts Cow’s Lane - go for breakfast, get the beans on toast and share a scone and thank me later
Temple Bar Pub - A historic must for Dublin.
Peruke and Periwig* - a gorgeous bar
Bartley’s Bar and Restaurant - perfect for dinner
Farrier and Draper - another gorgeous cocktail restaurant, try the Spice Bag Margarita
Cafe en Siene* - we tried so hard to get in here. Both the food and atmosphere look stunning. Be sure to make a reservation in advance.

Where to stay
Aloft - when we go to cities where the trip isn’t necessarily impacted by where we stay, we usually pick an easy Marriott to stay. This one was perfect for this trip, great location, and great price.
*Places I had saved we didn’t get to
And just like that, another trip was over! Just a PSA that when we were there the Dublin security lane was a MADHOUSE. Definitely give yourself plenty of time to make it through!
