Mallorca - Where To Stay, What To Do, Where To Eat Travel Guide
Mallorca is an absolute dream. It was the perfect end to our summer travels this year. In this blog I’m going to share everything we did, where we stayed, and where we ate. We truly loved everything about this trip, so I can’t wait to hear if you give any of my suggestions a try.
To be honest, this trip centered around relaxing and spending time together given this was our last true “summer” trip together. We just wanted to soak up the sun, eat good food, and relax. I’ll show you a few more things to do at the end of this blog if you’re looking for more adventure on your trip.
Do you guys remember the Samantha Brown show on the travel channel from back in the day? It was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. She is basically like the OG “travel youtuber” of the day. The show was centered around her travelling to different areas all over the world, staying in beautiful places, and pretty much showing you where to go, what to do, and where to stay in all of these places. This is where I was first introduced to Mallorca. I remember thinking, “wow, an island off of Spain, how cool would that be?” Fast forward 20 years (okay wow hi I’m getting old) and I’m watching Love Island UK. Where is it filmed you ask? MALLORCA. Cue lightbulb in my head screaming why on earth have you not looked into going there yet.
So to Mallorca we went. We loved. We want to go back.
If you’re planning a babymoon, honeymoon, or an anniversary trip Mallorca is perfect in my opinion. It’s great for families too, but the perfect setting for a relaxing and romantic getaway.
Okay, enough small talk, let’s get to the details!
Where to Stay:
All three of these photos are where we stayed, Ca Xorc.
We stayed at Ca Xorc, an Agro-Boutique Hotel and I could not recommend it more. “Agriturismo” are very popular hotel styles in Europe. The word itself means “farm stay.” As you can imagine, this type of hotel is a quaint and unique hotel generally with a small number of rooms set around a farm with a restaurant serving farm to table food.
I saved quite a few other options which I will share below, but we adored Ca Xorc. It is just a 10-15 minute drive to both the center of Deia as well as Soller, and a third minute drive from the airport in Palma. Most of the restaurants and beaches I wanted to try were in Deia so it was the perfect fit. The breakfast was delicious, the service was great, and our room was just adorable. I’ll let the photos below speak for themselves.
P.S. Ca Xorc offers plenty of discount codes if you follow them on Instagram, they also offer a few on their website as well. Occasionally see if they’re running any and you might get lucky!
Other hotels I liked that we didn’t end up choosing:
Cal Reiet - a wellness retreat serving local plant based food
Where to Eat:
Restaurant Nama in Deia
El Olivo at La Residencia
Cafe Miro at La Residencia
Ca’s Patro March
Our trip was a five night stay. Our very first and last nights we ate dinner at our hotel. If you don’t end up staying there, you can also visit just for lunch or dinner. The view is stunning.
Restaurant Nama was one of the best restaurants we’ve been to in a while! First of all it’s a beautiful restaurant. Second, the food, my goodness. We absolutely loved it! It is an Asian Fusion restaurant with everything from duck pad thai (I highly recommend), to green curry, spring rolls, and everything in between. I highly recommend both of those entrees, the roti as a side, and the prawn dumplings with the coconut vegan crepes for dessert.
Originally I wanted to go to El Olivo at La Residencia per a few recommendations. Unfortunately, they were already booked up when I went to reserve a table about a month prior to our trip. Definitely book early if you’d like to go there! As a plan B we went to their other restaurant, Cafe Miro and we absolutely loved it. The view was just as stunning as El Olivo and the food was incredible too. We walked out feeling like rollie pollies! They have both tapas and an ala carte depending on which meal type you prefer. Head to the resort about an hour early to have a drink on the patio while the pianist plays some beautiful music. This night was just gorgeous.
Our last restaurant was on a whim, and turned out to be such a winner as well! After a day spent on a sailboat (which I’ll share more of below) we just went into the port town to find a place for dinner. The sailboat left from a pretty touristy town on the southern side of the island so we didn’t expect to find anything *that* good given the touristy location. But this tapas restaurant really exceeded our expectations and was fantastic! Trenta1 is a must if you find yourself in Porto Cristo.
All in all we loved every restaurant and I’d highly recommend you visit them all. The one thing I would change is not going to dinner at our hotel twice. The food was delicious, but quite expensive compared to the other restaurants. Honestly we’d probably go to Nama again!
Another restaurant that is highly praised is Ca’s Patro March. It’s perfect for lunch while at the beach. We did not end up eating there but we did head to Cala Deia. It is quite hard to make a reservation but if you get to the beach early and head straight there to put your name in you should be okay!
What to do:
Cala Deia
The market in Soller
The city center of Soller
If you spend your entire trip lounging at the pool it would absolutely still be a fantastic trip, especially with an atmosphere like Ca Xorc. We spent a full day and a half doing this and we could have had more!
Go to the beach
Our first full day we went to Cala Deia where the famous Ca’s Patro March is located. A few things we learned: there IS parking down by the beach, though limited. If you get there in the morning you should be able to find a spot. If not, there are parking lots in the town of Deia you can walk from. This is what we did and the walk took about 30 minutes down. The walk down is not as bad as it sounds, though the walk up was HOT! Secondly, this beach gets busy quick. We arrived at 10am and it was already about 70% full! Be sure to get there early. We loved our time at this beach! Though beware, most beaches in Mallorca are rock beaches, so prepare to sit on rocks!
Cala Llombards is another beach I had saved to visit but we did not make it there. There are PLENTY of beaches in the Deia, Soller area and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them.
Take a sailboat ride
The mediteranean is such a beautiful blue you just have to see it from a sailboat! We ended up booking ours pretty last minute after finding a rental car (again, last minute!) to be able to travel the island. We drove about an hour and a half to Porto Cristo for an 8 hour sailboat ride with Tony and David. They had a paddle board, snorkeling equipment, drinks, and even cooked us fresh pasta for lunch. We would absolutely do this again if we go back! This is where we booked the sailboat. P.S. my friend Hannah and her husband Jon booked this one, if you’re a sailboat lover definitely ask Hannah where to find one on your trips! She always manages to find the best ones.
explore Deia and Soller
If you head to deia for dinner, try going down a bit early to pop into the shops. Deia is very small, so you only need about an hour or so to hit it all. I’d highly recommend stopping by La Residencia for a drink, lunch, or dinner.
Soller is much bigger and I’d save a morning or afternoon to explore. There is the town of Soller farther up on the island, and then Porto Soller, the port town on the ocean. We only went to Soller further up. We went on a Saturday morning during their market and ended up finding some beautiful hand painted ceramic bowls and plates as a keepsake! Their market is quite large and worth the visit if you can try and arrange to go on a Saturday. Soller is also the home of the famous wooden Tren Soller. It is known for it’s beautiful route and is a tourist attraction for many visitors. We didn’t end up taking a ride but we did see it travel through the city center a few times! Did I run up on four different occasions to snag a photo? Sure did. Did I manage to capture said photo? Sure did not. Allora, we just have to go back I guess!
Besides this we just relaxed by the pool. As you can see this was such a relaxed trip for us! If you’re looking for a few more things to do, I’ll list below some of the other activities/places I thought looked fun that we didn’t get to:
Torrent de Cala Pi or Cala Llombards - beaches
Patiki Beach for lunch in the sand
City of Palma And that’s it folks. I can’t wait to hear how you enjoy your trip to the beautiful island of Mallorca! I hope you enjoyed yet another travel blog.
